In this personal project, I initially just wanted to make use of some extra woofers that I had sitting around. Initially I was going to design a simple box for the speaker but I got curious about the prospect of a collapsible and poseable speaker.
In this personal project, I initially just wanted to make use of some extra woofers that I had sitting around. Initially I was going to design a simple box for the speaker but I got curious about the prospect of a collapsible and poseable speaker.
The idea for the collapsible feature of the speaker came from a toy that I had as a child called crinkle tubes. I experimented with different radii and angles to create a model that would work with the 3D printer TPU softness that I had on hand. I then designed the electronics and battery casing that kept everything as compact as possible.

The final result gave me a speaker that could be extended, collapsed, and posed up to 90°.
